We first went to Le Basilic thirty or so years ago. It was run by a husband and wife and the food was excellent. We’ve been a few times since and sadly after the owners retired the food wasn’t as good however we were bitterly disappointed with our meal on Sunday. It was our wedding anniversary so the fact that the food was very average was a shame. The French Onion soup was thin with a congealed lump of cheese at the bottom. Both our mains came with chips which were greasy, some hard in the middle and decidedly ‘flabby’. Thankfully the chicken was good and also my tiny fillet of salmon. We had to wait a while to be served and had to ask for an ice bucket for our bottle of Sancerre. All in all we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
